JG Ballard
Crash, 2010

This limited edition poster was produced to coincide with the group exhibition “Crash” at Gagosian Gallery, London in February 2010. Taking its title from the acclaimed novel by JG Ballard the show paid homage to the enduring impact of the author’s work following his death in 2009, exploring his premonitory writings about the fate of Western civilization and human psychopathology. The show included artists of Ballard’s own generation from whom he had taken inspiration, such as Andy Warhol and Richard Hamilton, alongside interpretations of his dystopian themes by a younger generation of artists, who included Jake + Dinos Chapman, Tacita Dean and Jenny Saville. The soft vinyl poster features photographs taken by JG Ballard of his Ford Zephyr following his car crash in 1973.
