Todd Colby
Darby Crash, Unframed, 2016

In this ongoing collection of work, Todd Colby compiles found ephemera, then overlays the printed matter with phrases of poetry, commentary, or drawings by hand. The mundane and idyllic scenes of the ephemera is undercut by Colby’s distinctive blend of humor, absurdity, and poignance—together, they read as an ode to American culture and a guttural response to the current political climate. Todd Colby, b. 1962, is a Brooklyn-based artist and writer. Colby is the author of six books of poetry, most recently, of Splash State (The Song Cave, 2014) and Flushing Meadows (Scary Topiary Press, 2012). He was the editor of the poetry anthology Heights of the Marvelous: A New York Anthology (St. Martin’s Press, 2001) and serves on the board of the Poetry Project. He was the lead singer for the critically acclaimed band Drunken Boat. Mixed Media Unique Signed 8.5 x 11 inches unframed
