Rachel Schultz
“Gesture-Cornflower,” 2019, Framed

In these new works by Rachel Schultz, large, sequential gestures unfold intuitively across the page in duo-tones. Though typically working in oils, Schultz’s forays in pastel on paper offer up a freer figural landscape amongst which emotions and relations can linger, or transit. Here amongst the field of figures, the artist appears to be seeking, rehearsing, and apprehending a moment of essential human recognition — an impulsive yet concentrated expression of gesture. Rachel Schultz, b. 1992, New York, is an artist based in New York City. Schultz also works as Creative Associate at Minnesota-based boutique Idun, and is studying for an MPA Public & Nonprofit Management & Policy at NYU. Pastel on Paper 20.5 x 26.5 inches framed
