This is the original drawing Joana Avillez created for her piece published in New York Magazine in November 2016. Avillez wrote of the coveted designer Ted Muehling known for jewelry of fine craftsmanship, unique in both material and form. In the story, she illustrates Muehling’s museum-quality display of his pieces and fondly recalls the perfect earrings she gifted to her mother from the shop.
Joana Avillez, b. 1986, New York, received a BFA in painting from The Rhode Island School of Design, and an MFA in illustration at School of Visual Arts. She is the author of Life Dressing and illustrated Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham.
