This unique illustration was originally published in the Spring 2016 issue of Apartemento in a series depicting ten different window scenes. In this particular scene, Joana Avillez herself drawn alongside her childhood friend, Lena Dunham, casually peering out of Dunham’s Brooklyn Heights window. Joana Avillez, b. 1986, New York, received a BFA in painting from The Rhode Island School of Design, and an MFA in illustration at School of Visual Arts. She is the author of Life Dressing, and recently illustrated Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham.
