The Graph Paper screenprints function as pictorial fields, immersing the visual senses rather than images to be read in a conventional mode. Moving between uniformity and subtle irregularity, the fine grid is interrupted by small inconsistencies that arise through the screenprinting process: a reminder of the hand within an otherwise mechanical geometry.
KAYROCK (est. 1998) is the Brooklyn-based screenprinting studio founded by Karl LaRocca, a visual artist, writer, designer, musician and white crane kung fu instructor.
