Raque Ford’s work explores the performance of identity in such themes as race and gender. She often examines the portrayal of female characters in pop culture and music and creates new narratives in her paintings, sculptures, and works on paper. This print references and reimagines the exchange of fan letters. Raque Ford, b. 1986, Columbia, Maryland, lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BFA from Pratt Institute and her MFA from Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts. Her work has recently been shown in solo shows in San Francisco, Portland, New York, and Atlanta.
