The repeated imagery featured in this limited edition print, published by Song Cave, first appeared while Seth Price was working on his Folklore US project. Reminiscent of 1930s fashion illustrations, the anonymous face tests the eye with duplication and overlapping patterns. The original drawings from which the edition was made also appeared in Price’s exhibition Animation Studio at Galerie Chantal Crousel in 2014. Though appearing in a different form, both pieces speak to Price’s examination of information intake with the dichotomy of monotonous repetition and overstimulation.
Seth Price, b. 1973, Jerusalem, is a post-conceptual artist, living and working in New York.
