Shane Butler’s drawings explore how objects are perceived, categorized, and displayed between the natural and digital worlds. Butler views a landscape, portrait, or situation in its separate parts and considers how a scene can be seen in detail rather than as a whole. Describing this set of prints, Butler notes, “Each work is staged as a question in action; a play between disparate animate and inanimate objects, skewing the lines of each category and providing viewers with the tools to construct their own narratives within each tableaux.”
Shane Butler is an artist, writer, and musician. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
