The subtle topographical landscape of this textured print speaks to Victoria Burge’s interest in cartography. Mapping natural phenomena, Burge transfers movement into fixed pattern. Reimagining spatial relations on a two dimensional plane, she creates new visual codes, shifting how we see the every day. This piece appeared in the 2012 show “Fresh Impressions” at the Projects Gallery in Philadelphia. Her work has also been exhibited at The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The New York Public Library and The British Museum.
Victoria Burge, b. 1976, is a printmaker and horticulturalist. She lives in Philadelphia.
