This poster was printed after the limited edition “Peace is Patriotic” portfolio by William Weege in 1967. Produced as part of his M.F.A. thesis at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, the 25 collage prints used graphic text and imagery borrowed from popular culture. They came to represent 1960s counterculture, as both anti-war emblems and declarations of the right to dissent. This is the seventh plate in the series.
William Weege, b. 1935, is an American printmaker. He is a Professor Emeritus from the UW-Madison Art Department and is founder and artistic director of Tandem Press.
