William Wegman
Activities, 1989, Framed

In this watercolor painting, William Wegman’s scenes of camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing blend together on the canvas for a rich tableau of the outdoors. Wegman’s brush strokes create a delicate yet dynamic pattern effect. Activities showcases Wegman’s lifelong engagement with nature that began with his childhood experiences of growing up in Massachusetts and Connecticut, extending to the Rangeley Lakes region of Maine later in life. The work has been exhibited only once previously in the 2012 exhibition William Wegman: Hello Nature, organized by the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, Maine, that also traveled to Sweden in 2013. William Wegman, b. 1943, Holyoke, Massachusetts, works in various mediums including painting, drawing, video, and photography. Wegman lives and works in New York and Maine.
