As a child growing up in Vietnam, Yen Ha recalls it being considered both disrespectful and wasteful to leave any rice in her bowl and being scolded if she didn’t eat every last grain. Now, as an adult, Ha wonders if her children will ever understand the same discipline of eating every grain of rice. In these meticulous drawings Ha meditates on every mark, denoting every single piece as significant while contributing to a greater whole.
